This is one of the perspective
class assignments, A Monster in the room. I really enjoyed this assignment. First,
I designed the 2pt perspective room and an imaginary monster. Specific lighting
was needed, so I placed some dramatic lighting, boy’s headlight and the light
from outside of the room. I realized the importance of lighting. It decides a
mood of picture and also sets focal points. It helps narrative too. Viewers can
understand what is going on and what will be happen.

Game tralier Analysis
This is Dead Space 3 trailer
with Korean subtitle. (Please ignore it if you don’t need)
I am pretty sure that this
trailer uses very effective lighting. For instance, Protagonists are located in brighter space then the space that
creatures come out. The creatures have strong silhouette, so staying in shadow
actually gives a strong advantage for catching the viewer’s attention. Viewers feel curious about
them because they do not recognized them clearly.
I also like this trailer
clearly shows the goal of the game. Dialogues between characters imply that they
need to kill the entire creature for survive. This can be a reason that why the
trailer is in gloomy mood and dim lighting. Images are
well-made and effectively explain the game.
